Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-16 Summary: Slow shipping ... The product itself is fine. Unfortunately it did not come directly from Amazon, but another retailer through Amazon. I received this in a padded envelope over a week after I purchased it. Considering I paid $4.99 for shipping, it should not have taken that long. The post office provides free mailers and boxes for priority mail. Priority mail usually arrives within two to three days, yet it was simply sent the cheapest way. ...more

Fantastic!! ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-01-28 Summary: A necessity when stuffing poultry ... Before I started using the trussing needle, I used a regular needle and thread, and in desperate times, a steel lacing pin with the shortest tip bent to hook the twine and a pair of pliers to pull the steel lacer through the poultry. After both those experiences, I must say that cooking is much more fun when you don't have added angst from struggling with simple tasks because you don't have the proper tools. This trussing needle is just the right length to adjust for the size of the bird and the point is sharp so that ...more

Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | Branigan's Turkey Farm was established in 1942 in Woodland, California. The family owned operation raises 18,000 to 20,000 turkeys per year. The reason that Branigan Turkeys are different from regular store bought turkeys is that they are raised longer. Most turkeys are processed at 16 weeks. Although they are considered mature turkeys at these ages, Branigan Farms feels that they must be raised longer to acquire a proper meat finish. It's expensive to feed turkeys after 16 weeks because...more

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2010-03-12 Summary: Will teach you how to adapt your existing recipes. ... This cookbook starts off explaining the history, good and bad, of pressure cookers; then provides a method by which we can test and learn how to control our individual pressure cookers in an easy/best fashion; gives a VERY USEFUL table showing time, pressure, and suggested de-pressurization speeds for most of the foods recommended for pressure cooking, and finally many recipes. Frankly, I have tried several of the recipes and found them to be quite tasty, however, I mostly appreciate the cooking table in the front ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-21 Summary: The definitive guide for a beginner ... My grandmother used a whistling pressure cooker for years and years until the seal wore out. I just bought my own, and since she has passed on, I had no way to learn to use it first hand as I don't trust the internet for something that can explode/melt down if done wrong(nobody else has one in my family). I purchased this book after reading reviews and deciding between the top two sources. This book provides methods for a lot of different foods to be cooked. I gave it four stars because, as I saw in a different review, ...more

[4] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-07 Summary: Good general info and lots of recipes ... The instruction manual that came with my pressure cooker gives just the basic information and very few recipes. This book is a far better source of information for general usage of the appliance, and has enough recipes to keep me experimenting for a long time. The half dozen recipes that I have tried so far have all been successful. I would recommend buying this book even before you actually buy your pressure cooker because of the information provided on various types. ...more
