I think it takes like 4 "C" batteries though, and the only thing I wish could change would be for it to plug in the wall instead of gobbling down the batteries. It has great reception. I can actually hear what people are saying on the other end of the line. There's room to put a pad and pencil for messages and also a small drawer, which I haven't used yet. Imagine having a drawer that is empty for a short span of time!!! The only thing I miss is caller id; however, I have another phone on the extension for that.
