Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-02-15 Summary: Not That Difficult To Use ... I purchased this to make venison sausage. I found it fairly simple to use with only a few draw backs. First two people make the job a lot easier, one to manage the meat going in and one to manage the sausage coming out. I would not attempt this alone. Second, as reviewed, the plastic dowel provided to push the meat into the grinder is not ideal. With the casing on the tube, there is a suction issue, and you seem to pull as much meat out as you push in. We solved this by using a wooden straight sided dowel that fit ...more

I ground the approx. 5 lbs of 1/2 beef - 1/2 pork last night, seasoned it, and rolled the seasoned ground meat into tubes roughly the size of the grinder throat, then covered and refrigerated it. I washed all the grinder, and stuffed the next morning. Process was simple, not too messy, results look reasonably professional. Unlike some of the other attachments I have bought for my Kitchenaid (I think I have them all!), this one is very useful. It easily makes a small amount of ice cream or gelato. Just follow the directions carefully, if you put the dasher in improperly, it can break or damage your mixer. The second time I used it, I didn't hook it up right - it kept clicking when it rotated. The ice cream was fine, but the next time I tried to use my mixer with the mixing blade, I couldn't remove the blade. My husband got his pliers ...more

The bowl must be frozen for a day before you want to make the ice cream so it helps if you have a large freezer that you can just keep the bowl in so it's ready whenever you want to use it. When I first purchased this I only had the freezer that is on the top of my refrigerator and in order to fit the bowl in I'd have to rearrange everything and hope I could squeeze it. It matched my kitchen and fit next to the fridge, you know? It's awesome! I love how fast the weight is displayed. Two things this one does that I don't think other scales do.
